What are Shopify Checkout Extensions?
Previously, the only way to customize checkout pages was through direct coding.
This meant that a checkout experience that integrated strong branding wasn’t easy for many merchants.
With Shopify UI extensions coming out, that’s soon about to change.
Shopify extensions are a new functionality that will allow merchants to change the look, function, and feel of their checkout to match their brand.
To put it simply, you’ll be able to use Shopify apps to edit the checkout page too, not just your store and post-purchase experience.
Who can Use Checkout UI Extensions?
Unfortunately, customizing the Shopify checkout is a feature for only Shopify plus merchants.
If you’re operating a store on the standard Shopify plan, you won’t be able to do much to change the checkout experience for your customers.

How to Use Shopify Checkout Extensions & ReConvert
Here’s a quick guide on how you can customize your checkout page on Shopify.
1. Install ReConvert to Your Store
If you haven’t added it already, you’ll need ReConvert and a Shopify Plus account to follow along with this guide.

2. Navigate to the Checkout Customization Page
Once you’ve installed ReConvert, you’ll need to navigate to the Checkout Customizer in the app.
From the main dashboard, it’ll be right here:
From the Checkout Customizer tab, you’ll be able to edit any of the pages within your checkout using the “More Actions” button:
And if you scroll down, you’ll have access to a full analytics dashboard that shows off data on your checkout.
3. How to Add Upsell Widgets to Your Checkout Page
The ReConvert Checkout Extension allows you to add various widgets to your checkout page.
The main widget? Multi or single-product upsell offers.
You can find the widgets along the left sidebar. Just click “Add Section” where you’d like to add the widget and select the option you want.
With ReConvert, you can add new headings, dividers, and upsell offers straight to the checkout.
4. How to Customize Checkout Widgets in Shopify
Once you’ve added a widget, you can customize it to match your brand.
To edit a widget, click on it and select one of the options along the right sidebar. You can add images, headings, and change various settings for each widget.
This isn’t exclusive to ReConvert widgets, either. You can use the sidebar to edit any of the elements on the page.
